Jefferson County 2017 Senior Heroes ceremony was a great success! They celebrated the efforts of area seniors who volunteer to make their communities a better place to live.

The event was held in May, at Mountain Vista Senior Living Community.

Seniors recognized this year:
• Norma Brown, age 93, 16 hours a month for 9 ½ years
• Glenda Emrie, age 87, 35 hours a month for 20 years
• Marlys Halbeisen, volunteered 40 hours a month for 25 years
• George (89) & Marie McLaughlin, George: 16 hours per month for 30 years, Marie: 16 hours a month for 12 years
• Gerry Mathie, age 86, 25 hours a month for 46½ years
• Shirley Otis, age 86, 80 hours per month for 11 years
• Edwin Rossillon, 20-year volunteer
• Paul Stouff, age 70, 64 hours a month for 7 years
• Peter Weir, Elected Official Honoree. “The highest priority for Peter is providing justice for our most vulnerable citizens.

They’ve volunteered in many different ways from driving for senior transportation, picking up food and assembling backpacks for needy children, helping people with low vision, volunteering in hospitals, collecting gifts for nursing homes, school Supplies Programs, collects food for Jeffco Action Center, pick up food from local grocery stores for local food banks and more!

These are people who turn aging into a mission of fun and giving back with the joy of helping others. A job well done Jefferson County Senior Heroes!
