The Weld County Veterans Memorial has a great program scheduled on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11th that starts at 11 a.m. We schedule two programs each year, one on Armed Forces Day in May and one on Veterans Day. Our Memorial is located at Bitteresweet Park on 16th Street and 35th Avenue.
Here’s the tentative program we have scheduled; Presentation of the Colors – Greeley Police Department, National Anthem – Greeley Central High School Choir, Pledge of Allegiance – All Attending, Invocation – Pastor Eric Ebbinghaus – Generations Church, Welcome & Introduction of Guests – Shawn Harmer, Master of Ceremonies, Mayor’s Proclamation, Music – Brentwood Middle School Band, Speaker – Martin Lind, Music – Brentwood Middle School Band, How to Fold A American Flag – Union Colony Marine Corps League Detachment 1093, Recognition – Our Honored Guests – WWII and Korean War Veterans, Benediction – Pastor Eric Ebbinghaus – Generations Church, & Rifle Salute and Taps – Union Colony Marine Corps League Detachment 1093.
If you know or have a World War II or Korean War Era Veteran, please have them attend!
Our Memorial was dedicated in 1996. We add names of Weld County Veterans that served twice a year, and we currently have over 17,000 names. Individual names are listed in the era they served which includes Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and one category which includes the Gulf War, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom.
We have a committee of seven individuals who serve on our committee that help raise money and work to maintain the memorial. These individuals include Shawn Harmer, Rich Hannan, Stan Graffis, Robert Klausner, Rick Wertz, and Larry and Debbie Frazier.
