A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love & Murder Banner

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder is a musical comedy with music by Steven Lutvak, lyrics by Lutvak and Robert L. Freedman, and a book by Freedman. It is based on the 1907 fictional novel Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal by Roy Horniman.

The show opened on Broadway in 2013 and ran until 2016. The Broadway production won four Tony Awards at the 68th Tony Awards in June 2014, including Best Musical. The road version continues to many local theatres nationwide.
The novel was also the source for the 1949 British film Kind Hearts and Coronets, with which it shares the conceit of casting one actor as an entire family; however, after a lengthy legal battle, the infringement claim from the film’s copyright holder was dismissed. A small production of the show was also performed in 2004 under the same name of the 1949 film.

The play features 13 wonderful songs in Act I and 11 delightful songs in Act II. You will be entertained on why this musical comedy won an award for the Best Musical on Broadway!

Both the New York Times and USA Today newspapers gave high reviews to the Broadway and other local productions saying the show was “delightful” and adding that it was one of the shows “that match streams of memorable melody with fizzily witty turns of phrase.”

Performances will be from July 25 to 28 at the UNC Campus Commons Performance Hall, 1051 22 Street in Greeley. Visitors or students can purchase tickets to this award winning musical comedy at phone 970-351-4849 or online at https://tickets.unco.edu/Online/default.asp. Ticket prices range from $23 to $29 per person.
