Free Tax Help Offered

Jefferson County Public Library ( JCPL) will offer free tax preparation assistance to individuals who require help filing their tax returns through April 15.

“This is a great resource for Jefferson County residents,” said Pam Nissler. “Through this long-standing partnership with AARP, we’re able to help thousands of people with their tax returns every year.

“We’re able to deliver significant value, as well,” Nissler added. “In fact, last year, we helped a patron recover $2,000 in taxes he had overpaid!”

Each year, JCPL partners with AARP to offer free counseling and preparation assistance to all tax-payers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. IRS-certified volunteers will be on hand to help people on a walk-in basis at the Arvada, Belmar, Columbine, Lakewood and Standley Lake Libraries, and by appointment at the Evergreen Library. Space is limited for this popular series, so patrons are encouraged to arrive early. Additional information, including locations, times and dates can be found at jeffcolibrary.org/research/taxes.
