Take time to embrace the New Year with all the transitions and opportunities yet to be experienced. Who knows what surprises will come during these next months?
Stay open to the unexpected. It provides for a more positive outcome. Transitions will come inevitably with challenges. Jobs change, as do school levels. Families welcome new members while saying goodbye to those no longer in the circle. Their influence will still be felt long after they’re gone.
Begin with developing an attitude of gratitude. Count those blessings and balance your ledger with more gains than losses.
Reach out and love life in spite of obstacles which may come along. Enjoy living in your special place. If one doesn’t exist, search for a space or place which provides renewal and refreshment.
Remain hopeful. Keep your hopes up and those of others. Surround yourself with those who help you become the person who want to be.
When help is needed, ask. No one tries to do everything alone. Pace yourself. Tomorrow will come if you don’t finish everything you wanted today.
Look for other interests, stimulating thoughts, new fields, experiences or activities. Helping others puts life in perspective. Numerous volunteer opportunities exist whether supporting others, caring for animals, attending to the environment, or assisting different organizations.
Seek another way to do old things. Breathe life into a long forgotten activity by reinventing it along with yourself. Doing what always has been done in the same way yields the same results. Why not seek change?
Take a vacation. Try traveling through photographs, videos, documentaries or, even by land, sea or sky. Enjoy a break from the news and social media. It will still be there.
Smile! It will brighten your day, others too. Enjoy all that 2023 brings your way! Marty Coffin Evans is a columnist and writer for 50 Plus!
