The City of Fort Collins will allow solid waste collectors to change or suspend curbside residential yard waste collection until June 1 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The policy change is meant to provide flexibility for solid waste service providers in support of them continuing to provide primary trash and recycling services in an environment of limited equipment and staffing due to coronavirus.
Normally, city code requires that solid waste companies in Fort Collins provide curbside residential yard waste collection on a weekly basis from April 1 though November of each year upon a customer’s request.
The new emergency order allows those companies to change yard waste service frequency or suspend yard waste service altogether until June 1.
No changes are being made to regular garbage and recycling collection.
City Manager Darin Atteberry signed an emergency order authorizing the change on April 13.
