Denver Mayor Hancock Issues ‘Stay at Home’ Order!

Yesterday (3/23), Denver Mayor Hancock issued a ‘Stay at Home’ order to reduce the coronavirus outbreak. Boulder and Pitkin counties did the same, while other Colorado counties are considering the same order.

The coronavirus has turned Colorado into a epidemic with 740 confirmed cases and 8 deaths. Denver County has been hardest hit, thus Mayor’s Hancock order to stay home.

Currently the Denver order doesn’t apply to anyone involved with grocery and liquor stores, healthcare and pharmacies, hardware, gas stations, and restaurants offering take out and delivery.

Several cities such as Fort Collins have been holding town hall meetings via teleconference. Fort Collins Mayor Wade Troxell indicated no ‘Stay at Home’ order is in place, but strongly encourages all residents to practice social distancing of 6 to 8 feet and stay at home for non essential jobs. With Governor Polis’ executive order as well, all theatres, schools, colleges and universities, churches and conferences should remain closed until the threat is over. Fort Collins had one death as of yesterday. The Larimer County Health Director confirmed over 5500 Coloradoans have been tested for COVID-19 with 24 cases in Larimer County.

Many Colorado mayors are recommending the CDC or local health department guidelines in controlling the coronavirus outbreak.
