The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Denver announces that Diedra Garcia has been named by the Board of Directors as the new President & Chief Executive Officer of the organization. Ms. Garcia officially assumed her role on Feb. 3, succeeding former mayor Guillermo “Bill” Vidal who recently retired.
Jose Amaya, Hispanic Chamber Chair of the Board of Directors stated, “We are very excited to acknowledge Ms. Garcia as our new leader. She is well known in the community and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Her knowledge of business, leadership and community relations will be essential in helping the Hispanic Chamber accomplish our goals.”
Garcia’s previous position was President & CEO of DRG Construction Corp., her family’s corporation since 1993. DRG has been recognized as one of the region’s fastest-growing Hispanic-owned businesses and has earned national awards for excellence. During Ms. Garcia’s tenure, the company grew exponentially in revenue, employee size and profitability.
Garcia’s no-nonsense management style combined with her genuine respect of her team and their potential has paved the way for her to achieve every goal she sets. She believes that spending the bulk of her career in a leadership role in a male-dominated industry has made her tough enough to handle almost any challenge.
Garcia has been recognized as one of Colorado’s leading entrepreneurs by several accredited publications in Denver. The Denver Business Journal recognized her as Outstanding Woman of he Year for Business in Construction and Real Estate. The Journal acknowledged her as one of Colorado’s most influential younger business leaders (40 Under 40). Garcia was also honored as Business Woman of the Year by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Denver and was one of just 10 business leaders chosen to represent the United States in the prestigious U.S.-Spain Young Leaders Program. Garcia is a respected leader in the community and has been called upon by organizations such as the Colorado U.S. Attorney’s office to coach their executive team on leadership development.
“By naming Diedra Garcia the next President and CEO, the Chamber is poised to grow. I am confident in her abilities and excited for the future of the organization,” Amaya said.
