And the Scams beat goes on…..

Here are a couple of scams active right now that you should be on high  alert –
1.  The new medicare cards will be automatically sent to you in the USPS.  No one will call you, no one will ask for money for these new cards.  If you get a call or email asking for money or confirmation of your information, HANG UP OR DELETE.
2.  Microsoft scam —- you get an alert on your screen that won’t go away.  You call the number and they are very adept at answering your concerns about whether they are really from Microsoft and if your computer is really infected.  You have to pay them any where between $495 or $795 to get your computer fixed.  They also want access to your computer once they get your credit card.  If you give them access – THEY WILL DOWNLOAD ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!   If you get an alert, icon, etc. just turn off your computer completely, and restart after a few minutes.  This alert will disappear.  you do NOT need to pay anyone to fix it.
Some reminders —-
***DO NOT PAY THEM –
***DO NOT GIVE ANYONE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER
***DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFO TO ANYONE ON THE PHONE OR COMPUTER.
These scammers are trained extremely well to know the hard questions you may ask, or how to overcome your concerns.  Please be on high alert when you receive a phone call, alert on your computer screen, or an email.
Have a great scam-free week!
