The Downtown Development Authority announces the Fourth Annual Blarney on the Block St. Patrick’s Day celebration, at 2pm on March 12th on historic Downtown Greeley’s 9TH St. Plaza. Everyone is invited to wear their green and participate in the afternoon festivities, including a three-block parade, featuring the bagpipes and drums of The Fort Collins Pipe Band, the Sheriff’s Posse, Hearts and Tails Carriage, and more! Join in the parade too! The parade starts at 2:30 on 9th Ave. just west of the Tilted Kilt at 6th St.
After the parade, there is live music from the Fort Collins Pipe and Drum Band, and dancers from the Moriarty-Moffat School of Irish Dance. New this year is music by the premier Irish band of the front range, Chancer’s Hooley! This is also a Go-Cup event, so patrons can enjoy an adult beverage, purchased at one of the participating establishments, on the 9th St. Plaza during the festivities.
The little ones can enter to win a Potato-On-A-Spoon Race, a Rubber Ducky Dunk, coloring and more! Additional prizes are available at 10 different downtown retailers and restaurants with a “Lucky Coin Pot-O’-Gold” search. A list of participating businesses will be available upon your arrival to the festivities. There will be plenty of prizes, contests, and games to enjoy, so be sure to bring the whole family!
Thanks to Greeley Monument works, the 9TH St. Plaza is now home to a permanent “Blarney Stone” for the fourth year. The stone is now on the plaza and ready for kissing. Legend has it you will be rewarded with the “gift of gab.”
Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day so come downtown for this fun family celebration!
