The City of Fort Collins, Columbine Health Systems and UCHealth are offering an ‘Aging Mastery Program’ beginning January 13. The program is possible through a grant from the National Council on Aging (NCOA). The City, Columbine & UCHealth formed a community partnership in 2014 to enhance health and wellness related opportunities throughout the community. The NCOA offers the program through the community partnership. The City of Fort Collins is one of eight cities nationwide chosen to offer this unique and educational wellness program.
The program is recruiting 30 participants, ages 50+, to join the program, which offers 1.5 hour sessions January 13 through March 16. Cost is $30. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
The goal of the program is to empower adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes in their lives. The program aims to help adults successfully navigate changes that occur during the aging process. Enrolled participants will benefit from 1.5 hour sessions that feature the exploration of topics including navigating long lives, physical activity, sleep, healthy eating & financial fitness.
Each class includes educational materials developed by the NCOA and expert speakers, a checklist of action steps, accountability, encouragement and a system for tracking behaviors.
