Larimer County Department of Natural Resources has hired Ken Brink, Jr. as its new visitor services program manager.
Brink, a native of northern Colorado and longtime ranger and park manager with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, will oversee operations of Larimer County’s parks and open spaces. He began at the county in mid-November.
“Our parks and open spaces are critical to the healthy, active lifestyle we all value,” Brink said. “The outdoors is part of the fabric that we are made of here in Colorado.”
Brink grew up in northern Colorado, where his father served as head of the horticulture department at CSU for 27 years. Outdoor experiences, such as Poudre School District’s Eco Week, helped introduce Brink to the great outdoors at a young age.
An alumnus of Fort Collins High School, Brink attended CSU, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation administration in 1985. During college, he worked summers as a wilderness ranger for the USDA Forest Service in the Rawah Wilderness north of Cameron Pass.
Brink spent most of his professional career with Colorado State Parks (now CPW). He was stationed at Boyd Lake as a ranger in the late 1980’s before serving as park manager of Steamboat Lake and Chatfield state parks. Later, Brink worked as assistant director of parks and outdoor recreation for CPW.
Brink said he has a passion for public service and values the important role of parks and open spaces. “I am very excited to be returning to my hometown community to serve the people of Larimer County,” he said.
