Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Katie Bidart graduated from high school in June 2012. In August, she enrolled at UNC in theatre education then later switched to theatre studies for business classes, production techniques, directing methods to help build her dreams of owning and operating a Theatre Company. She is a UNC senior and moving toward her goal.
Katie’s theatre experience dates to her high school days. She played Hermia the lead role in Mid-Summer Night’s Dream and served as an Assistant Director for a Beauty and the Beast production. Katie has been active in the Nevada Thespian Festival which features competing high schools in the state. She judges and oversees various events and programs. Plus she has served on the festival’s Student State Board. Her experiences keep her moving forward towards her ambition in theatre. Her family is a strong support system.
This enterprising young women is, also, an aspiring writer. There are numerous short stories to her credit. A series entitled “Princess Pepsi” portrays a 20 year old girl and her battle with emotional disorders and the challenges she faces. A novel writing project is underway!
Katie enjoys skiing, horseback riding and bird hunting with her dad when visiting home in Nevada. She looks for opportunities to keep her theatre passion active building sets, acting, directing and backstage duties.
There is a genuine desire to meet new people. Her job at Chili’s in Greeley offers her ample chances to do just that. As we concluded the interview, I asked if we had missed anything. She said, “Oh yes, I have June 2016 wedding plans.” I am sure her finance Ryan Galvin was pleased she mentioned the occasion they will share. May life’s path be filled with riches for Katie.
