Larimer County Genealogical Society is hosting the first annual “Conference for a Cause” featuring well-known genealogist D. Joshua Taylor. The event will be held at The Ranch in Loveland on Saturday, November 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
While this seminar is intended to be a chance for genealogists of all levels from beginners to professionals to meet and spend time learning from a pro, “Conference for a Cause” will be even more than that. Proceeds from this event will support two genealogically significant projects: “War of 1812 Preserve the Pensions,” which is an ongoing effort to digitize important, but fragile, early U.S. military records and the Friday’s Council Tree Chapter, NSDAR “Historic Marker Project at Grandview Cemetery,” which is a local project dedicated to repairing, restoring and replacing at risk monuments at Fort Collins’ Grandview Cemetery. The cost of the seminar is $60, of which $40 is tax deductible. Additional donations for these causes are gladly accepted.
D. Joshua Taylor is a nationally renowned genealogical speaker and is co-host of Genealogy Roadshow, featured on PBS-TV. He is a dynamic speaker who will be presenting four different topics including: “New Tools and Ideas in Research,” “Successful Searching Online: Clustering for Genealogists,” “On and Off the Net: Locality Searching” and “Beyond Belief: the Wealth of Genealogical and Historical Societies.”
For more information, please see the Larimer County Genealogical Society website at www.lcgsco.org/. Registration can either be completed online or forms downloaded and mailed with payment. This seminar is expected to be a sellout, so early registration is suggested. Mail in registration is only available until November 1, 2015.
