Each year the City’s Human Relations Commission recognizes a person (60+) in our community who promotes acceptance and respect for diversity in Fort Collins.
For nearly two decades, the Human Relations Award has recognized the outstanding contributions Fort Collins residents have made to minority and disadvantaged citizens in the community. Award recipients have embodied the spirit of inclusiveness, giving and altruism that has made Fort Collins into a better place for all people to live.
All award nominees receive a letter signed by the Mayor and the Human Relations Commission acknowledging their contributions to the community. The award recipient is invited to the Human Relations Award ceremony to be held in December. The Senior Award recipient receives a prestigious commemorative plaque honoring him or her at a reception with planned attendance by the Mayor, and other dignitaries invited including members of City Council, top Fort Collins officials and representatives from the Human Relations Commission and the Senior Advisory Board.
The Senior Award recipient will be decided upon by a panel of volunteer members of the City’s Senior Advisory Board.
