Fort Collins’ longest running living history event is Saturday, September 19 at Grandview Cemetery 1900 West Mountain Avenue, Fort Collins. This year the past 20 years of the Cemetery Stroll are celebrated, as we travel through the city’s past to re-visit some of the Cemetery Stroll’s most interesting honorees.
‘Highlights of the Cemetery Stroll: 20 Years of Honoring Fort Collins’ Past’ takes visitors through the historic and scenic Grandview Cemetery to talk with the first and a more recent mayor of Fort Collins, a former slave turned rag merchant, an educator who postponed her marriage for 7 years in order to develop the first kindergarten west of Saint Louis, and other colorful characters.
Through graveside re-enactments by costumed performers, visitors hear from special individuals from the past, about their lives in Fort Collins.
There is one performance this year, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
Following the Stroll there is a commemorative Pioneer Picnic with music and entertainment. Tickets for the picnic are $9 adults; $7 children.
This fund-raising event for the Fort Collins Senior Center, is presented by dedicated volunteers.
