Public speaking is high on many people’s list as a skill to develop to increase one’s chance for success and to help launch new career opportunities. Toastmasters is an international membership organization that provides a supportive learning experience where members develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in personal growth. Today there are over 300,000 members attending one of the 14,650 clubs in 126 countries.
On a weekly or bi-weekly basis Toastmasters members practice public speaking in a friendly environment. Participation is at a self-directed pace that helps them meet personal and professional goals.
To provide an enriching environment every member can work with a mentor to help pick topics, prepare, navigate available tools and information and learn how to receive the most from their Toastmasters experience.
The Toast of Inverness Club is one of more than 170 clubs serving the metro Denver area. On March 6 the Toast of Inverness celebrated its 35th anniversary and 11 consecutive years as a President’s Distinguished Club. During the ceremony new member Chad Gordon highlighted that he joined Toastmasters to improve his public speaking skills and advance in his career. Commented Mr. Gordon, “When it comes right down to it, my job is about talking, communicating, and thinking for a living.”
Toast of Inverness meets every Friday from noon to one at the Koelbel Library at 5955 S. Holly Street in Centennial. If you have any questions or need more information, please visit our web page at www.toastofinverness.org.
