Englewood is celebrating the dedication of their Veterans Military Memorial on Sunday, May 24th 2015 at 2:00 pm. The ceremony is in the new Fischer Auditorium at Englewood High School at 3800 South Logan Street. Additional parking is on the North side of the school by the athletic field.
This is a celebration for all veterans and their families, not just Englewood veterans!
The ceremony is FREE to the public. Veterans, their families and friends are encouraged to attend this special event. Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms and/or ribbons.
The Joe Peterson Orchestra and the Andrew Singers play popular and patriotic music. The Douglas County Young Marines hand out programs, escort people to the auditorium and Present The Colors, plus participate in the grand patriotic finale. Hawk Quest shows a live American bald eagle, with a wingspan of over 6 ft. Come early to see the eagle up close. The eagle will be near the monument stone, by the flagpoles, on the South side of the school.
There is a patriotic musical finale and WWII Veterans are honored and escorted on stage, by The Douglas County Young Marines.
In addition to honoring our veterans, the ceremony dedicates a new veterans memorial monument. The monument is a three ton Colorado Rose Granite stone with the five bronze service seals; Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.
