Free Prescription Discount Cards Available To Weld County Residents

The Board of County Commissioners reminds all Weld County residents about the discount prescription drug card from the National Association of Counties (NACo).

The NACo prescription discount card is free and may be used by all county residents regardless of age, income or existing health coverage. Cardholders and their family members may use the card on prescription drugs not covered by health insurance or Medicare. There are no restrictions or limits on how many times you may use the card.

Since the county began participating in the program in September 2011, the card has saved Weld County residents more than $48,345.09 on prescription medication or approximately 23% savings off retail prices. The program costs the residents nothing, as it is included in the county’s membership to the national organization.

The NACo prescription drug card also provides discounts on some pet medications. Commonly discounted medications for pets include those that treat seizures, heart conditions, infections, allergies, pain relief and diabetes.

“The NACo prescription card is a great program for individuals, families and their pets” said Commissioner Chair Barbara Kirkmeyer. The discount card is available at the Weld County Administrative Building, 1150 O Street, Greeley, Monday-Friday 8 to 5 p.m. or at the Weld County Health Department, 1555 N. 17th Avenue, Greeley, Monday-Friday 8 to 5 p.m. Once you have the card, you can use it immediately.
