Michael J. Rourke was sworn in as 19th Judicial District Attorney by Judge Todd Taylor in Weld County District Court. Rourke was appointed district attorney on December 18, 2014 by Gov. John Hickenlooper. He has been a prosecutor since 1997, both in the 18th and 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. He has been with the Weld County District Attorney’s Office since January, 2005 and has been the Assistant District Attorney since November, 2007. During his career, Rourke has prosecuted numerous First Degree Murder cases, Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault on Children, and Crime of Violence cases. In 2010, Colorado District Attorney’s Council named him as the co-recipient of the Robert R. Gallagher Prosecutor of the Year Award.
Also sworn in was his Assistant District Attorney Robert W. Miller, four chief Deputy District Attorneys and twenty-three Deputy District Attorneys.
