Say what you will about our “Seattle Summer” thus far, the unseasonably balmy weather and persistent afternoon showers have made our campus ridiculously beautiful. Add to this a bunch of new Zoo babies, enchanting events and more…there’s more than ever to discover at Denver Zoo right now! If our last Asian small-clawed otter baby, Jai, induced squeals of delight, we hope you’re ready to double down—because our newest pups, Rocket, and Slinky, are officially ready for your adoration! You’ll also want to keep an eye on Goat Mountain, where proud mama Magnolia tries her best to keep up with “new kid” Salix. And last, we’d like to call your attention to the new resident in our Grevy’s zebra habitat: Dusty the ostrich! Deliciously dinosaurian and chock-full of personality, the new bird on the block is ready for his close-up.
In support of our conservation efforts with local habitats and pollinators, we’re proud to introduce “Glass in Flight”a 14-piece traveling art exhibit. These captivating glass mosaic pieces were created by Tucson-based artist, Alex Heveri, with the intention of bringing the world of insects to life and highlighting the importance of their contributions to our ecosystems. They’re only at the Zoo until mid-September.
Anchored by an enchanting Wallaby Walkthrough and soaring two-story tree kangaroo habitat by next Spring, this immersive exhibit will feature some of Australia’s most unique and charismatic species, including Bennett’s wallaby, red kangaroo, tree kangaroo and cassowary. You can catch a glimpse of our new wallaby mob in their temporary home just past Stingray Cove.
It’s no secret that Denver Zoo is popular with families as we’re consistently in the top two tourist destinations in the state at our beautiful 84-acre campus! Visit denverzoo.org to learn more!
