The Seniors’ Council of Douglas County

here are more than 65,000 older adults in Douglas County and the number is growing. So who is advocating for their quality of life? We are! The Seniors’ Council of Douglas County is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to promote Living Well/Aging Well for all the residents of our county. We strive to accomplish this by enhancing the quality of life and assuring
accessibility to services through advocacy, education and collaboration.

We are strong and vocal advocates for the needs of those 60 and older regarding affordable housing, transportation services, workforce opportunities, multi-generational engagement and ways to combat social isolation.

Our first Thursday monthly meetings start at 10 am in various locations throughout the county and include educational presentations on a wide variety of topics ranging Douglas County Seniors’ Council Advocates for Older Adults from ways to connect with local resources, learning about fascinating research and striving to positively impact the way people think, speak
and act about aging and our value as older adults.

The ideas and energy we receive from people have a direct impact on planning our community events, providing legislative input to decision makers, educating the community, reviewing funding proposals and working on special projects promoting the health and safety of older residents. So please join us in our efforts.
