ADRC-Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado, staffed by Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, provides information and referral to older (60+), adults with disabilities, and family caregivers. One tool the ADRC uses is the website www.BoulderCountyHelp.org. A key feature of this site is a comprehensive service directory—but there’s much more to be found. Start by selecting Seniors and People with Disabilities.
On the home page, click on Library (at top) and select from several categories. Key Health Articles has hundreds of articles on Alzheimer’s, Elder Abuse, End-of-Life Care, Finance/Law, For Caregivers, and many other subjects. Medications lists thousands of prescription drugs, with in-depth information on each, and Medical Tests does the same for prescribed tests. All Health Topics by Category offers articles on fifty specific health topics.
Or click on Assistive Devices (top of home page), and you’ll find a catalog of more than 21,000 products from 8,000+ companies, in areas such as Aids for Daily Living, Blind and Low Vision, and many others. Whatever you’re looking for to assist in care, you’ll find it there.
Go to Important Information (lower right on home page) and select Current Emergency Information for up-to-date info in case of a local emergency, or choose Publications, where you’ll find the Boulder County Housing Guide, “Care Connections” newsletter (for caregivers), and the Silver Lining Resource Guide for LGBT older adults.
And don’t miss E-Learning Featured Courses / Direct Care (lower right on home page), which links you to hundreds of online courses for professional and family caregivers (small fee for each).
www.BoulderCountyHelp.org is an excellent resource. Check it out!
