Global sing-along serving as a catalyst for positive human connection, founded in Boulder BOULDER – Singers of all backgrounds, ages and singing abilities are invited to participate in Boulder’s seventh annual World Singing Day—a global celebration of one
of the world’s oldest art forms. Founded by Boulder musician Scott Johnson, World Singing Day invites people all over the world to experience our common humanity through the universal language of music, on the third Saturday in October each year. Boulder’s sing-along event will take place on Saturday, October 15 on the Pearl Street Mall from2 to 3:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
Boulder City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde and The Dairy Arts Center’s director Melissa Fathman will emcee the event. The
playlist will include songs from the Beatles and Sinatra to current hits. Free lyric booklets will be provided. The lyrics will also be available to view on your phone. “It’s such a joyful experience,” says Johnson. “It’s so great to see people of all ages and backgrounds singing together—from grandkids to grandparents, from college students to parents and their children. We turn up the music loud enough so no one feels self-conscious about their singing, but not too loud so everyone can be heard singing as one.”
Boulder will join Denver and Colorado Springs in Colorado, as part of more than 30 events in 8 countries currently on the World
Singing Day schedule. “Singing is for everyone,” says Johnson. “And I believe everyone can sing. World Singing Day gives people the opportunity to experience their connection with each other and to that joyful part of themselves.” About World Singing Day
