Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, John Krueger graduated from Marquette High School, and, at an early age, had his sights on becoming a pilot.
He earned an Aerospace Engineering Degree from Saint Louis University, and while there, he also earned a civilian pilot’s license.
John’s love for flying motivated him to enlist in the U.S. Air Force where he utilized his Aerospace engineering education at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. He became quite ac-tive in the Aero Club at the base. He then followed his dream, moving on to pilot training and found himself flying B-52s and B1 Bombers. “There is a unique difference flying those two powerful and quite effective aircraft,” he said. “The B-52 is like driving a large truck. The B-1 is like driving a sports car.” He added that he was honored and privileged to fly both. In January 2003, John retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 21 years.
After his military career, John became a corporate jet pilot. He was then hired by Southwest Airlines where he is currently a 1st Officer and flies domestic routes bringing passengers safely to their destinations.
John is a former hang glide pilot and enjoys biking. Since moving to Colorado two years ago, John has started volunteering at the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley. There he conducts visitor tours and is part of the crew operating as many as 14 trains simultaneously traveling the tracks.
John and wife Teres reside in Windsor. They have five grown children and two grandchildren which keep them busy with numerous family functions.
