Boulder Library Provides Free Access to Cultural Institutions

Boulder Public Library cardholders can now explore Colorado’s cultural destinations for free through the library’s new Culture Pass service. The grant-funded opportunity offers community members free entry to local art, cultural, and historical attractions that would otherwise come at a cost to attendees.

Culture Passes can be checked out online using a library card. Pass benefits and the number of visitors each pass will admit varies by destination, which includes: 1) Butterfly Pavilion, 2) Dinosaur Ridge, 3) Museo de las Americas, and 4) WOW! Children’s Museum.

The library is piloting the service as part of the 2018 Master Plan vision to create additional inclusive opportunities for all members of the community to access cultural experiences. “We’re very excited to begin offering cultural opportunities to our community free with their library card,” Collection Development Manager Laura Hankins shared. “It helps families afford the experience of visiting these premier institutions together.”

The opportunity is funded by a Colorado State Library grant. The library pays for membership at cultural institutions which then provide community members free access through the service. The library is working to grow the program to include additional cultural institutions.

Library cardholders can reserve Culture Passes online up to 30 days in advance. When cardholders reserve a pass, they will receive a digital confirmation receipt to use for admission. For full details, visit the library’s Culture Pass webpage at https://boulderlibrary.org/services/culture-pass.
