Fort Collins Transformer Cabinet Mural Project

Sixteen artists will be painting a total of 23 utility transformer cabinets this year as part of the 2022 Transformer Cabinet Mural Project. The project started in 2004 as a collaborative effort between The City of Fort Collins Utilities Light and Power and the Art in Public Places Program to help mitigate graffiti on transformer cabinets and bring art into the community.

Artist Gale Whitman

The project has lowered maintenance costs of repainting graffitied cabinets and brings original artwork by local artists to the city. It has been replicated in many cities across the state and country.

At the end of this season there will be 406 painted cabinets in the City’s collection. Artists are currently painting, and murals are already at different stages of completion.

Artists include Chris Bates, Ren Burke, Tyler Boeyink, Chelsea Ermer, Chelsea Gilmore, Jennifer Ivanovic, Faith Johnson, Terry McNerney, Noelle Miller, Dominique Montano, Allie Ogg, Werner Schreiber, Larry Tucci, Aerica Raven Van Dorn, Kristen Vohs, and Gale Whitman.
