Colorado Symphony Chorus Takes Musical Tour!

The Colorado Symphony Chorus (CSC) completed its summer 2022 tour in mid-July following a two-week visit to three Austrian cities. They began their performances at Stephansdom in Vienna (pictured here), followed by a concert at St. Giles Cathedral in Graz and another at the International Salzburg Music Festival.

An alumni travel group sponsored by Gohagen & Company had the unexpected pleasure of seeing the concert notice as they entered Stephansdom in Vienna. To their surprise and delight, the CSC was rehearsing at that moment. Travelers don’t always have the benefit of hearing an organ playing or choir rehearsing when visiting a European cathedral. Their music and acoustics added greatly to the experience in this mid-13th century Gothic cathedral with Baroque features.

Although the group’s trip focus was Oberammergau, and multi-city stops on the Danube River, hearing the CSC in Vienna provided a musical highlight. The alumni travelers hailed from the University of Colorado-Boulder, Fordham University, the U. S. Navy Academy, Princeton University, Miami of Ohio, USC, Northwestern University, Tulane, Mitchell Gallery, and Notre Dame.

With frequent summer appearances at Bravo! Vail and Aspen Music Festival, in 2016 CSC took another concert tour with presentations in Paris, Strasbourg and Munich. In celebration of their 25th anniversary in 2009, they presented the “Verdi Requiem” in Budapest, Vienna, Litomysl and Prague under the baton of chorus conductor Duain Wolfe. Volunteers in this 180-voice chorus come from Evergreen to Brighton, and Boulder to Castle Rock. More information about auditions, schedule, repertoire, and expectations can be found on the Colorado Symphony Chorus webpage at https://coloradosymphony.org/about/meet-the-symphony/chorus.
