DOVIA aims to create space for networking through conversations at education sessions and at CCOV, but also through more informal social gatherings across the state. The members of the statewide organization and volunteer engagement community benefit from connecting to resources for professional and personal development. These connections are essential in a profession that can sometimes feel isolated and under-supported. Th rough this community, DOVIA hopes members develop lifelong colleagues, friends, and a professional support system in volunteer engagement.
Last but not least, the organization advocates for volunteerism and the profession of volunteer management by providing members with education and support to advocate for their own programs. This includes having a statewide presence that encourages respect and allotment of resources for volunteerism. It is essential that volunteer managers learn how to advocate for their programs to ensure organizational support and growth.
