Sheri Lobmeyer was born and raised in Boulder. She graduated from Boulder High School; then went on to earn a graduate degree, in recreation with an emphasis on older adults, from UNC.
Directing senior activities is Sheri’s passion. Early-on in her career, a San Antonio nursing home was her workplace. She missed Colorado and found her way to Bonell Good Samaritan Community in Greeley where she worked as an Activity Director. In 1991, Sheri’s professional pursuits led her to Greeley Senior Center where she’s been ever since as Recreation Program Manager.
Sheri loves working with seniors. She commented how special friendships evolve in the course of her work. Her staff of 130 volunteers, 4 permanent and 5 part-time employees are a pleasure work with. The entire team is focused on the well-being of all the folks they serve. Treasured friends are genuine gifts coming out of what they do.
When not keeping herself busy with work, Sheri enjoys water & snow skiing, tennis, pickle ball, summer evening walks and bicycling. Traveling with her husband is always a source of real enjoyment. As a matter of fact, this month, they are headed to Tahiti for a vacation.
A couple of years ago a 10 day African Safari was an amazing experience for she and her husband; especially seeing what is called “The Big Five…”
- The African Elephant
- The African Rhino
- The African Leopard
- The African Lion
- The Cape Buffalo
Adding to their memories was a visit to an African elementary school and interacting with the students which was fun and educational.
Sheri and her husband Bruce reside in Fort Collins. They have two very special family members; both Old English Sheep Dogs- Windsor is three, Magic is 13 and has been a therapy dog for seven years bringing comfort and joy to PVH patients.
Stop by the Greeley Senior Center, say ‘Hi’ to Sheri. She is a pleasure to know.
