City Council Appoints New City Clerk!

At their May 3 meeting, Greeley City Council appointed Heidi Leatherwood as the City Clerk. Leatherwood, who starts May 12, comes to the City of Greeley from her last position as the town clerk for Erie, Colorado. Her decades-long career as a strategic leader in municipal government also includes positions as deputy city clerk with the City of Boulder and as an administrator with the City of Loveland’s Clerk’s Office.

“I will truly miss my team in Erie, who supported me with kindness and strength of heart,” Leatherwood said. “I will always be connected to them. And I am very excited to be joining the City of Greeley with all the opportunities for growth and professional and personal development. I look forward to the building and reaching of new heights and relationships.”

Among her responsibilities, Leatherwood will lead the seven-person clerk’s office, serve as clerk to the city council, coordinate city council races and city ballot measures in local elections in addition to board and commission appointments, serve as custodian of record, and provide administrative support for code compliance.

“Heidi’s high-level experience serving in clerk’s offices on the Front Range, her familiarity with northern Colorado, her commitment and depth in effective teamwork, and her history working with councils and communities were factors in the selection,” said Greeley City Manager Raymond Lee.

Leatherwood earned a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Colorado Christian University (CCU) and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design from CCU. She holds designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk.

She succeeds Deputy City Attorney Stacey Aurzada, who Lee thanked for filling an interim role until Leatherwood starts May 12.
