Marcia Shafer is the new director for RSVP of Weld County. Marcia’s comes to RSVP from the Alzheimer’s Assoc. where she was the Regional Director of Northeast Colorado. Previously, Marcia served RSVP of Weld County as the Volunteer Coordinator. Marcia Shafer holds a B.S. degree in Psychology and Business from Fort Hays State University and a Master’s of Divinity from The Iliff School of Theology. She graduated in December 2013 with a Master’s in Gerontology from the University of Northern Colorado.
When asked what her plans for RSVP of Weld County are: “First, I want to thank the Volunteers’ for all of their dedication and loyalty in giving of their time and skills back to our community. RSVP of Weld is a important community service and I look forward to being a part of such an important service organization. Second, I want to thank the stations (agencies) that continue to request and accept our volunteers for assisting and programs in community outreach and service. Jennifer LaPorte is a summer intern with RSVP. She is currently working on her undergraduate degree at University of Northern Colorado and is majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and minoring in Nonprofit Administration. She also represents the school as an Aquabear on the UNC Swim and Dive Team. In the future, she hopes to have a career with a nonprofit organization where she can help serve her community by creating a vision for a particular cause that draws supporters and informs the public to care for those in need as well as translate financial and business analysis.
