The Jefferson and Gilpin County District Attorney’s Office and the Jefferson County Council on Aging sponsored the Fourth Annual Jefferson County Senior Law Day on June 7 at the Faith Bible Church Chapel in Arvada. It was estimated over 450 seniors attended the all day event.
District Attorney Peter Weir opened with an introduction followed by other state officials and local Channel 9 News reporter Chris Vanderveen. Twenty four speakers presented 18 classes on legal topics including fraud, probate, estate and will planning, elder abuse, Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare.
Over 45 exhibitors presented beneficial information on products and services for the seniors attending this annual event. Exhibitors included several law enforcement agencies, attorney offices, retirement villages, home care organizations, medical insurance companies, and county wide non-profit organizations and agencies.
Lunch was provided for the seniors and exhibitors with entertainment provided by Runaway Express, a local band playing music from the 1950 and 1960 era with luncheon introductions made by JCCOA. Overall, the organizers, seniors, and exhibitors were very happy with the event.
