Boulder’s Arts in the Park Performances

The City of Boulder has developed Arts in the Park, a new program that will provide a vibrant blend of arts and cultural performances at the historic Glen Huntington Bandshell in the city’s Civic Area. The program will run from May to September.
The program will help reactivate the city’s local arts and culture organizations, and the Civic Area, after the devastating effects of COVID-19 on the performing arts community.

Throughout the pandemic, arts organizations have adapted and served our community in innovative ways, using new online platforms and outdoor venues. Despite these efforts, losses due to COVID-19 have been staggering. Statewide, Colorado Creative Industries estimated a decline of almost $823 million dollars in revenue. Arts in the Park will be a welcome boost to the city’s economy, reactivate the Civic Area, and rebuild our community’s connection with each other and the arts.

“Arts in the Park will provide a venue for a variety of performing arts groups to put on outdoor performances safely,” said Events Manager Justin Greenstein. “It will also help create a welcoming area within the downtown park so that our community can dance, listen to music and enjoy live theater again.”

Arts in the Park performance groups include Boulder Arts Outdoors, Boulder Ballet, Boulder Opera, Boulder Symphony, Creative Catalyzers, Dairy Arts Center, eTown, Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance, Local Theater Company, Mountain Contemporary Dance Arts, Street Wise Boulder, T2 Dance Company, with more to be announced.

All performances will follow current public health guidelines. Arts in the Park is presented by the City of Boulder and sponsored by the PLAY Boulder Foundation, the Boulder Library Foundation, and the Downtown Boulder Partnership.

If your performing arts organization is interested in participating, an application is available or for performing arts and cultural group information, schedule, and tickets, visit their website at boulderartsinthepark.com.
