One year ago, when the DDA canceled Blarney on the Block and the First National Bank parade it was a crazy and frightening time. Our Director of Experience had just been hospitalized, and the next day the state released the ‘shelter at home’ shutdown. The remaining three person staff were left to deal with the chaos of contacting everyone involved and handling the shutdown of the DDA office and downtown. Then time stood still.
Fast forward one year. We never imagined that this would drag on and a new year would find us still dealing with this virus. Even in the yellow zone as things seem to be improving, outdoor events are limited to 175 attendees. And so, another year will pass without our outside celebration of all things Irish.
That said, you will find many of our bars and restaurants, who are now able to operate at 50% capacity, are having some sort of celebration. You can come down-town, enjoy a Guinness, an Irish Car Bomb, corned beef, and Irish music on the PA. But, with limited capacity you should make reservations where possible. You can find contact information for all the businesses in our district on our website Business Directory.
Thank you to our sponsors, supporters, and community. We treasure your support while businesses navigate the changes to stay afloat while respecting the safety of their employees and customers. We hope to start Friday Fest this summer and perhaps make one of them into an Irish celebration.
