Viva Spring Show: TAKE 6

Viva Theater/Society for Creative Aging and the Boulder Fringe Festival present six short plays in their 2014 play series. A complete program of thoughtful humor, romance and mystery from established playwrights. Each play has its own talented cast and professional director to provide a roller coaster ride of laughter, suspense and love.

The plays are: “A Blooming of Ivy” by Gary Williams, directed by Roz Bard. A tender and funny look at unexpected, later-in-life courtship and love.

“Baby and the Bathwater” by Christopher Durang, directed by David Ortolano. An outrageous tour of bringing up baby and the amusing problems with gender mix-up.

“Bringing in the Damned Mail,” written and directed by Jane Shepard. A couple discuss differences in their relationship upon receiving a startling letter about eternity.

“Lemonade” by James Prideaux, directed by Jim Carver. Two Peoria matrons seek excitement selling and drinking spiked lemonade and revealing untold fantasies.

“The Blizzard” by David Ives., directed by Jim Wolf. A storm isolates a couple in their mountain home when a pair of intimidating strangers show up. The audience is in for a startling conclusion.

“The Unicorn in the Garden” by James Thurber, directed by Jim Wolf. The delightful fable from “TheThurberCarnival.”

This marks Viva’s thirteenth year. Previous production have included original stories, radio plays and last November “Dude, It’s Boulder” the original history of Boulder by Jane Shepard, that sold out in advance. Last spring’s show turned latecomers away. A word to the wise book early.

Performances are Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m.
