At The Good Samaritan Society Water Valley in Windsor senior living resort, the fun doesn’t stop just because of the virus. With trying to keep social distancing, we’ve had to get creative on delivering activities and fun to our residents during these difficult times. Here are some of the ways we’ve kept our residents engaged in daily entertainment.
1. Zoom: Exercise, Live Jeopardy, Novel Bunch (story time), yoga
2. Trivia Calls thru one call (first 5 callers get a little goodie bag delivered)
3. Cookies and Personal Cards from staff (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Every week
4. Activity Bags (Sudoku, coloring sheets, crossword puzzles, crayons, markers, puzzles, journals, silly putty, play dough, water colors, reading material) Changes every week!
5. Book Club, residents read the same book, check back after two weeks with a description of their thoughts on books and we share them with the group.
6. Emails: Documentaries, history lessons, time to travel, planet earth
7. Emails with links to watch Live cams at different Zoo’s
8. Emails: museum tours around the world
9. Scheduled Novel Bunch in hallways for residents to share stories from their door ways
10. Channel 1-1 with updates, bible verses, word of the day, trivia questions, 2 minute videos
11. Ice Cream/Root Beer Floats delivered during the week to rooms by activity staff
In addition to all of that, our residents are getting meals delivered right to their door. They are feeling pampered and love the extra miles the staff is putting in for them. We love our residents and want them happy and safe at all times.
