Kathy Kindsfather, Town of Milliken Senior Coordinator & Special Events arranged with Colorado Coach Transportation Tour Bus owner Patrick Harton to take a group of seniors to Central City for a day of fun and enjoyment. Travel to & from was most pleasant.
Those traveling shared conversations varying in subject & scope. I traveled with the group and took a chance to tell a few jokes and did receive more than just courtesy laughs which was encouraging. While in Central City, I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Mayor Fey & visiting with Mimi Ritter owner of Mountain Heart Gallery. Her business features all handmade crafts. There were opportunities to talk about 50 Plus Marketplace News. Indeed I did!
Located just over 35 miles west of Denver is a hidden gem! Central City is blessed with an abundance of activities to keep people busy! Their historic community takes you back to its founding by miners in 1859. While here, gaming aficionados will appreciate our 8 casinos which operate 24 hours per day. Other folks can enjoy the abundant wildlife in and around the community. Experience the Gilpin County Museum, Art Galleries, and of course the historic Central City Opera House. If you like heritage, explore the cemeteries located around town or take a tour of the Coeur D’Alene or Hidee mines. If those haven’t grabbed you yet, then check their events page at centralcity.colorado.gov for other activities which occur throughout the the year! Plan to visit…they would love to see you!
We all enjoyed ourselves!
