Our world has changed. In March, we didn’t expect a statewide ‘Stay at Home’ order as Colorado and the world are dealing with COVID-19. This is an opportunity to work on your family history and organize your files and photos. This will increase the chances of photos being preserved after you are gone. There are many FREE opportunities to work on your family history research.
Legacy Tree Webinars offers webinars every week. These are FREE to watch live for about a week. See www.LegacyTreewebinars.com. The Roots Tech Conference was in held in February, and they recorded many videos from this year and previous years that are available to watch FREE. See www.rootstech.org and check the “Video Archives” tab.
The Family History Library is closed, but they are still offering several classes free on-line. See details at: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Family_History_Library_Classes_and_Webinars. Many local libraries are making the Ancestry Library Edition database available from home while they are closed. This includes Poudre River Library District in Fort Collins, and Loveland Public library. Login to your local library using your library card and select Ancestry under the research databases. You can search the entire database and save documents to your local computer. Many libraries have additional collections for newspapers and military records.
Larimer County Genealogical Society and many others local societies are converting their events to on-line events. Check their websites for more details. Use this time to learn new skills and advance your family history research.
