The Elder Care Network of Northern Colorado is proud to present the tenth annual Elder Care Resource Day to be held on Saturday, April 4th, 2020, at the Fort Collins Senior Center, from 8 am until 2:30 pm, registration will begin at 7:30 am.
We are very excited this year to present six topics: Rubber Bands and Resilience – Dementia Friendly Communities; Five Senses – Pathways Hospice; Come, Learn Who We Are and What We Do – lnnovAge; Healthy Living for Your Brain an Body – Alzheimer’s Association; Facing Your Fears, the Dying Process – Larimer Advance Care Planning; and Laughter Wellness – Business of Laughter.
The keynote speaker for lunch is Paula Spencer Scott, who is the author of Surviving Alzheimer’s: Practical Tips and Soul-Saving Wisdom for Caregivers. An award winning journalist and caregiving advocate, her work appears in Parade, PBS/Next Avenue, AARP, WebMD, Better Health While Aging, and Woman’s Day (where she was a longtime columnist). After developing the caregiving channel for the original Caring.com, she began teaching about Alzheimer’s, caregiving, and brain health, most recently at CSU’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Fort Collins. This educational one-day conference assists caregivers by providing informative classes to help navigate family dynamics, plan for end-of-life, self-care for the caregiver, Alzheimer’s and Dementia awareness and tools to get through the day. All classes are presented by speakers with professional expertise. Handouts or supplemental information will be provided at each session. Members of the Elder Care Network and sponsors will be available to answer individual questions, and each attendee will receive a tote bag to fill with information on local resources. A $10 donation per person is suggested, which includes registration, classes, and lunch.
