I avoided Genealogy Blogs for as long as I could. Now I’m not sure why. It’s just another way to share and obtain genealogical information. Each blog has it’s own personality and focus, which portrays the vast array of information available. With all this at your fingertips, there is a whole new world of genealogy to investigate without leaving home. Using blogs as a tool to make the most of your
genealogy search time will be invaluable.
Blog is short for a weblog located on a server in the world wide web, where the owner writes about, in this case, genealogy, receives comments back. In other words: A blog is in the blogosphere where a blogger, blogs by posting a blog on his blog, waiting for other bloggers to blog about the blog, thereby making them feel blogorific!
There are many different types of genealogy blogs. So many in fact, one blog has a page that tells you about other genealogy blogs with
an added link to them. Check out Genealogy Blogs and find out for yourself. If you join or subscribe, any blogpost initiated from that site will be sent to you automatically. Try googleing “genealogy blogs” to find more.
I am beginning to understand the appeal of sharing and learning with others, via the blogosphere. So not wanting to be thought of as a blogsnob, I started my own blog at Thefamilydig.com. The amount of information you discover by participating with these genealogy
lovers; It bloggles the mind!
