New Board Chair. The Board of Larimer County Commissioners appointed a new Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, and Chair Pro-Tem for 2020 at their regular weekly meeting. The Board appointed District 2 Commissioner Steve Johnson to serve as chair for 2020, and District 1 Commissioner John Kefalas to serve as Chair Pro-Tem for 2020. Johnson succeeds District 3 Commissioner Tom Donnelly who served as Chair of the Board for 2019.
New Director. The Board of Larimer County Commissioners recently appointed Laura Walker as Director of Human and Economic Health Services at Larimer County. Since 2015, Walker has been Director of Larimer County Human Services, and before that served for 5 years as Deputy Director of Human Services.
Walker will oversee Larimer County Economic and Workforce Development, Human Services, Behavioral Health Services, and also serve in a liaison role to Larimer County Health and Environment, and Larimer County Cooperative Extension.
Walker has also served in an advisory capacity as a member of many organizations, including the Larimer County Behavioral Health Technical Advisory Committee in 2019; Larimer County Community Corrections Advisory Board member from 2012 to 2019; Colorado Governor’s Office Benefits Management System Executive Steering Committee from 2016 to 2019; and on the United Way Board of Directors form, 2015 to 2018.
She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University, and an M.S. in Management from Regis University in Denver.
Larimer County Deputy Director of Human Services Heather O’Hayre has also been appointed as Director of Human Services to fill Walker’s vacancy.
