“A golf course might be green space, but it is not open space. It is not space people can use,” said the developer who wants to turn the 155-acre Park Hill Golf Course into a concrete jungle.
Mayor Webb said, “If our forefathers would have had that attitude there would be no greenways in the city. It’s the mindset of developers that concrete is better than trees and grass, that a parking lot brings more joy to a neighborhood than fresh open land, that we shouldn’t care we’ve lost our skyline from the high rises all over the city.
It’s a tough situation so many moving parts. The developer meeting with residents to get their input, the developer thinking development can be great if done right. He is saying there will be green space designed into the plans.
The Mayor and residents see this as the continued over development of Denver turning into a concrete jungle. Now what will the City Council and current Mayor Hancock do. Will they keep an easement in place for no development of the land or will they go with the developer?
