The pumpkin patch will open around the last weekend in September at Historic Tigges Farm, 12404 County Road 64 1/2, Greeley. If you drive by on a Sunday and see a flock of flamingo’s in one of the patches it means the patch is open. Following this article find a list of the free weekend events sponsored by the Farm Co-manager Team (Ken Tigges, Gale Loeffler and Kathy Rickart). Events range from special visits of Disney princesses or birds of prey to a “unicorn” and petting zoo.
Maybe, just a walk around looking at the vintage machinery fits the bill. Either way the fun is endless – the pumpkins are in 3 big patches. One is bound to find that perfect small or big pumpkin. There are lots of picture places making Historic Tigges Farm a tradition for some families, a treasured memory for others and a ‘must’ for newcomer’s young and old. It is a great place to take out-of-State visitors.
Weekday field trips for schools, child care and day care centers, art classes, MOPS and other groups are available. They need to be scheduled ahead. Call 970-686-7225. Little tikes will love the new “Play Town” village, dollhouse and barn. Imagination nation. Grandparents find Tigges Farm the perfect place to take the kids when school is out for parent/teacher conferences. Birthdays, reunions, employee appreciation days can be held at the farm.
Last, October means the chile roasting season will end shortly after a killing freeze. Don’t miss out! Pumpkins can make it thru a few freezes, but not chilies.
