The Greeley Chorale announces its 55th concert season, “55 And Still Alive!” Although the Greeley Chorale is known on four continents for presenting quality choral music, this season the Chorale’s focus is on home, and looking back to some favorite chorale pieces.
Our Hit Parade is truly a ‘grassroots’ concert, as the program has been selected by the singers themselves, from a list of pieces presented at concerts over the past decade. This concert includes works from the Americana, Spiritual, Sacred and Secular music traditions. According to Artistic Director Dr. Galen Darrough, “This concert definitely has something for every musical taste. I compiled the overall voting list, and it was sent to the singers for voting. We’ll be presenting the top 15-20 pieces, as determined by that vote. It’s going to be fun!” Our Hit Parade is set for Saturday, October 5, 7:30 p.m., at Greeley’s newest performance venue, the UNC Campus Commons Performance Hall, 1051 22nd Street. This concert is sponsored by Edward Jones/Brian & Kim Larson, and Patricia Streeter, in memory of Bill Streeter.
On Saturday, December 14, join the Chorale for an evening of holiday variety as Hometown Holiday takes the stage at 7:30 p.m., once more at Campus Commons Performance Hall. Take a break from the holiday stress and hustle-bustle, and enjoy an evening of seasonal favorites, performed by the entire Chorale, and by soloists, duets and small ensembles from within the Chorale.
The Chorale celebrates two milestones this season: the 55th season, and the 25th Pops & Pasta! A fund-raiser for The Greeley Chorale Tour Fund, this perennial sell out features a chef-prepared pasta dinner, a cabaret-style show by the Chorale members, the popular Wine Pull and Photo booths, and the Silent Auction. The Chorale transforms one of the rooms at the Greeley Recreation Center, 651 10th Ave., into a stylish cabaret for this event. Pops & Pasta! is sponsored by Good Samaritan Greeley Communities, and Intrinsic Financial Design Group. Tickets are going fast, so don’t delay!
In April, the Chorale renews its long-standing relationship with one of their favorite composers:
Mozart. Mozart and Friends features his magnificent Requiem, sung by the Chorale for the first time in 14 years. “Mozart’s Requiem toured the world with the Chorale, as they have performed it in England, Scotland, China, and Italy, and right here at home,” Darrough says, “It’s like welcoming home an old friend.” This final concert of the season is at the Union Colony Civic Center’s Monfort Concert Hall, 701 10th Ave. in Downtown Greeley.
