Larimer County Treasurer Irene Josey announces approximately 163,300 tax notices have been mailed, including 152,383 real property, 5,043 personal property, 5,691 mobile home and 196 state assessed tax bills. Another 1,751 property notice reminders will be sent to individuals via email who have signed up for electronic notices. Josey said payment of these taxes will produce over $541.5 million for taxing authorities throughout Larimer County, about $35 million more from the 2017 payable in 2018 collection process.
Nearly 90,000 of the notices are traditional full-page statements that include payment coupons and an envelope. Those remaining are the new postcard statements, reducing costs for taxpayers.
The new postcard statements will be sent to property owners whose taxes have previously been paid through an escrow account by a mortgage company, and properties that are tax exempt. If you have an escrow account with your mortgage company for property taxes and have questions regarding payment, please contact them for further information.
The property tax notices are for 2018 taxes payable in 2019. In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes, the taxpayer has the option of paying the full amount of taxes in a single payment due no later than April 30, 2019 or in two equal installments. The first installment must be paid no later than Thursday, February 28th, and the second installment is to be paid no later than Monday, June 17th. Taxpayers using the half payment option should file their second half payment coupon in a convenient place for June remittance, as a second-half notice will not be mailed.
Property taxes can be paid online by credit card, debit card or electronic check. The convenience fees charged for those payments are explained at www.larimer.org/treasurer. Or mail payments to Larimer County Treasurer, P.O. Box 2336, Fort Collins, CO 80522. To ensure proper credit, please reference your schedule number on your check.
