Mary Thomas
A birthday celebration was held at Rock Creek Kaiser Permanente for Mary Thomas who turned 104 on August 27th. Friends and family (she has three daughters and one son) were there for the big event! Mary takes part in Kaiser’s Silver Sneakers Stability class every Tuesday from 10:00-11:00. Her instructor, Mary Ann Brunson, thoroughly enjoys leading this class and helping Mary with her strength and balance! In Mary Ann’s words, “we all love Mary! She puts every effort into keeping up with her younger classmates! Her cognizance is great and she has a wonderful attitude! Not only does she stand on one leg for balance, she also lifts weights and stretches elastic bands! She always has a smile and never complains!”

Mary entered college at the age of 49 and graduated with HONORS! Her education brought her a career in teaching deaf children. She has been active her entire life, even playing a round of golf at the age of 90! She and her sister were teammates in high school where they played field hockey. She also did some fencing, diving and even was a lifeguard!
Happy birthday, Mary! Keep up the great work with exercise! You are an inspiration to all!
