Tree Line Theater, Boulder’s newest professional theater company, presents Steve Grad as The Librarian in the award-winning Underneath the Lintel by Glen Berger. In this insightful and bizarre existential scavenger hunt a lonely librarian sets off on a quest to join myth with reality, discovering in the process his deep human need for contact, intimacy and the desire to in bring meaning to an unfulfilled life.
Underneath the Lintel has enjoyed great success in numerous productions in the United States, Canada and Europe. It received the 2001 LA Ovation Award, the 2004 Edmonton Sterling Award for Best Play, and was one of Time Out New York’s Ten Best Plays of 2001.
Before coming to Boulder Grad worked in radio, TV, film and theater in California, Florida and Washington, D.C. as a member of AEA, SAG and AFTRA. In Boulder he is remembered for his critically acclaimed work in Orphans, Match, Dr. Fritz and Wrong Turn at Lungfish for Theatre 13 as well as for his award-winning performance as Gunner in The Outgoing Tide. He has also directed several highly popular radio plays for VIVA Theater.
Amy Kaplan, Director, has been involved in theatre in the Boulder/Denver area for over 25 years. For 14 years, she was a writer, producer, director, editor, story consultant and researcher in the film department at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. She is a playwright, director and librettist/ lyricist whose work has been read, heard, seen and sung on national and regional PBS, a Bravo Original Series, as well as theaters and opera stages in USA, Germany, Sweden, South Africa, and UK.
