Stillwater Ranch: An Ideal Setting!

The setting led Mary Scott, MSW, owner of Heart Scars 6, LLC to team up with Wendy Buckley, Stillwater’s co-founder in presenting a Veterans & Families Retreat featuring speakers, Equine activities, BBQ, Music and camp-fire warmth and relaxation.

Military veterans representing the USN, USMC, USAF, USA shared their heart wrenching & heart warming service experiences. The veterans spoke about their time serving their country and the challenges when returning to civilian life which addressed their interaction with family, friends, acquaintances and work. The healing process took time, love, understanding, compassion, patience, often professional help and prayer. Significant progress often followed when one veteran shared with another veteran where they had been and what they had been through.

Brad Hoopes, Oral Historian, spoke about the vital importance of remembering and honoring veterans. He has conducted hundreds of veteran interviews with an aim to record and preserve such vital and treasured stories.

Stillwater Ranch exists to serve the emotional and physical needs of veterans and their families using hooved therapists and the entire ranch experience to bring about hope and healing.

Mary Scott devoted to military service members considers it an honor to have worked with over 600 veterans and families through individual consulting, education and retreats. Mary has future retreats being planned.
