Ann was born and raised in Hocking Hills, Logan County, south east Ohio. She lived on top of a wooded hill in a house her father spent 25+ years building.
At age four, that hill was a ‘mountain’ to her. Then and there her love for the outdoors and her adventurous spirit began.
Ann is a graduate of Ohio State University. Her adult life was spent in the Columbus, Ohio area. Married and divorced, she has a married son and two grandsons who think “Grannie-Annie” totally rocks. Ann was part of the corporate world for quite a long time. She also was self-employed as a gym owner before taking early retirement. Her pursuit of adventures began full swing.
She has climbed 33 of Colorado’s 53 14ers. Her goal is to gaze the summit of them all. Now, Ann’s story gets quite interesting and exciting. For a moment, let’s go back to her early childhood years when her Dad would ask her, “Wild Child, what did you do today? Oh Daddy, then went on to tell him.
In recent years, the wild child traveled to Nepal and trekked 1,065 miles hiking with others from various parts of the globe along with guides and porters. Why? It was a challenge. And, one she was determined to meet. She decided this is what I am going to do. And, did it! She shared about crossing over a raging river, scaling treacherous mountain slopes, surviving in climate weather, inter mingling with the Nepalese people, enjoying their friendships and learning their customs, trusting her fellows in frightening situations and almost ending up in jail because of an expired Visa. Coming home after the Nepal trip was a heartwarming experience for her.
Ann has lived a quote she shared. “Most people do not know how strong they can be until the only choice is to be strong.” The “Wild Child” is in the process of writing a book entitled “Annie Up High.” I’d say a must read when published.
